At the end of September, I participated as a guest in the podcast “Pairs with Life” by John Taylor. This opportunity was a challenge for me. It was my first appearance in a podcast, I was nervous, and I was scared of running out of words. However, getting out of my comfort zone totally worth it. I enjoyed the interview, the pictures, John’s company, the casual conversation, and of course, the wine tasting.
We planned a day in Clarksburg for the podcast and it was John’s choice to go to Heringer Estates. This family-owned winery has been passed down through seven generations after their patriarch John Heringa immigrated from Holland to California in 1868 to farm and build his legacy. The property is stunning, with endless vineyards and some original structures from its beginnings, including their beautiful barn and the family’s house.
At Heringer you can enjoy a nice walk in the middle of their vineyard using their trails, you can sit and do their tasting, or if you visit during a hot summer day you can enjoy their delicious wine slushies. They produced over 30 certified sustainable wines, but relax, we didn’t try them all (haha).
During our visit, we tasted their 2019 Chenin Blanc, 2015 Malbec, 2017 Cabernet Franc, 2015 Purple Thread. The four wines were very good, but I had two favorites:
2017 Cabernet Franc: In my opinion, their Cab Franc makes justice to the varietal. With notes of bell pepper, raspberry, strawberry, and a hint of herbs on the nose. This full-bodied wine is delicate and well balanced.
2015 Purple Thread: This is a blend of Malbec, Petite Sirah, Teraldego, and Tempranillo. Malbec is the grape with a higher percentage in the blend and it provides the boldness and richness in the wine. This well-balanced wine has a flavor profile of blackberry, oak, vanilla, cloves, and a caramel finish. This wine is a party!
Located in the heart of Clarksburg, just 20 minutes from Sacramento Downtown, this winery offers great wines with grapes produced in house or sourced locally. Their hospitality is great, the landscape is beautiful, and it is a perfect place to escape from the routine for an afternoon.

Visita a Heringer Estates
A finales de septiembre participé como invitada en el podcast “Pairs with Life” de John Taylor. Esta oportunidad fue un desafío para mí. Era mi primera aparición en un podcast, estaba nerviosa y tenía miedo de quedarme sin palabras. Sin embargo, salir de mi zona de confort valió la pena. Disfruté de la entrevista, las fotos, la compañía de John, la conversación, y por supuesto, la cata de vinos.
Para el podcast, planeamos un día en Clarksburg y fue decisión de John ir a Heringer Estates. Esta bodega familiar se ha pasado a través de siete generaciones después de que su patriarca John Heringa emigrara de Holanda a California en 1868 para cultivar y construir su legado. La propiedad es impresionante, con un sinfín de viñedos y algunas estructuras originales de sus inicios, incluido su hermoso granero y la casa de la familia.
En Heringer puedes disfrutar de un agradable paseo en medio de su viñedo utilizando sus senderos, puedes sentarte y hacer su degustación, o si visitas durante un caluroso día de verano podrás disfrutar de sus deliciosos granizados de vino. Ellos producen más de 30 vinos sostenibles certificados, pero relájate, no los probamos todos (jaja).
Durante nuestra visita, probamos su 2019 Chenin Blanc, 2015 Malbec, 2017 Cabernet Franc, 2015 Purple Thread (Hilo Morado). Los cuatro vinos eran muy buenos, pero tuvimos dos favoritos:
2017 Cabernet Franc: En mi opinión, su Cab Franc hace justicia a la variedad. Con notas de pimiento morrón, frambuesa, fresa y un toque de hierbas en la nariz. Este vino robusto es delicado y equilibrado.
2015 Purple Thread (Hilo Morado): es una mezcla de Malbec, Petite Sirah, Teraldego y Tempranillo. El Malbec es la uva con mayor porcentaje en la mezcla, y le aporta la audacia y riqueza al vino. Este vino bien equilibrado tiene un perfil de sabor a mora, roble, vainilla, clavo y un final de caramelo. ¡Este vino es una fiesta!
Ubicada en el corazón de Clarksburg, a solo 20 minutos del centro de Sacramento, esta bodega ofrece excelentes vinos con uvas producidas en casa o de origen local. Su hospitalidad es excelente, el paisaje es hermoso y es un lugar perfecto para escapar de la rutina por una tarde.
